"socialling":not being allowed to talk/communicate with the opposite gender for a set period of time;
"campusing": essentially, grounding the student from leaving campus at all for a minimum of 2 weeks...usually more; shadowing: reqiring a student to accompany/be accompanied by a floorleader, residence manager, or dean, while disciplinary procedures are being contemplated--usually expulsion, or, forced withdrawal.
These actions could be taken for any number of insignificant reasons. Socialling, if you touch the opposite sex in ANY way, or if you talk with the opposite sex in an "unchaperoned area," or after "social hours." Campusing, if you leave campus without permission, go somewhere you didnt tell them (i.e. Pensacola beach rather than the designated men's or women's beaches--Navarre or Fort Pickens), or simply by accumulating too many demerits. Shadowing occurs if you are Possibly going to be expelled.
If the petty rules were done away with, students would be free to have a well-rounded liberal arts education that didn't "leave out" pertinent information just because the College didn't condone it (i.e. music for example--jazz and blues are not studied because the school has a very narrow range of "acceptable" music). Do not get me wrong, I am currently a student of the college, and I do not complain about my education; I simply enjoy my life by not hassling myself with the rules. I follow the important ones--rules that keep me safe, but I see nothing wrong with stretching the limits if I would be allowed to do whatever at home. Oh, I also avoid doing things that would get me kicked out..such as going to movies, or meeting the opposite sex off campus, to name a couple.
One last thought, I hope you understand that the College does not offer student email addresses to any college students except international or missionary students, so I am not able to provide my own university email address. Also, the College only allows a very limited access to the internet, and then severely edits that. We have access to approximately 350 or so sites. Not exactly well rounded, eh? The College also does not allow internet access in the dormitories.
If you do decide to attend, you can have good, clean fun if you make it a point, but you must always be looking over your shoulder because you could probably get into serious trouble for it.
Besides, we need more "cool, normal, non-PCC type" people to make our lives fun! :) So, come and help out the rest of us! :)
Sincerely,
Female PCC Student
